The Living Forest published in 2000 is a collaborated effort between artist David Alexander Risk, Haliburton Forest & Wild Life Reserve Ltd.'s Manager and forester, Peter Schleifenbaum and biologist Brent Wooton . This book is the result of a unique and concerted effort by a group of people to create a book about Haliburton Forest, for Haliburton Forest and with paper produced exclusively from trees grown and harvested at Haliburton Forest. The Living Forest is an introduction to Haliburton Forest through text and illustrations. In this book you learn about the history, people, landscape, wildlife, uses, philosophy and management of the Forest. In essence this book is the culmination of sustainability in forest management and how we may use our forests in perpetuity.
